Hot Wax 03.27.2020

This week,

Fresh from the press to your turntable!

How is everyone out there? We hope you’re staying safe wherever you are! We have a bunch of news to share with you so buckle in.

Over the last two weeks we have been in touch with so many of you and we hear you loud and clear. We now have multiple ways for you to get your vinyl fix.

First up is our Discogs page! It just went live and Todd is putting up new releases and classics as fast as he can. If you are not familiar with Discogs please take a minute and check it out. It’s a great way to find records and even keep track of your own collection.

In addition to our Discogs page Todd will be taking orders via his email todd@vinyltapnashville.com. We will verify that what you’re looking for is in stock, and then we will get back to you with the payment details and delivery/pickup information. You can pick up records or Todd will be making deliveries in the 37206 and 37216 zip codes this weekend. He is looking forward to dropping vinyl at your doorstep like a Vinyl milkman.

Along with record delivery, we now have our permit to sell beer to go! That’s right, you can order up a sixer with your new records. Check out the menu on our site for a full list of canned and bottled beer to go. A portion of our beer sales will go directly to our employees who are currently sidelined. If you are looking for another way to help please go to a GoFundMe page set up by our friend Matt.

I have a recommendation for all of you this weekend and it is as follows. (RX from Dr. Jackson if you will)

  1. Order up a sixer and a couple of your favorite records.

  2. Chill out for a bit because Todd will be there soon.

  3. When the package arrives you can open up that beer and put on record #1, side A.

  4. Sit back and take a virtual tour of Vinyl Tap

  5. Take a deep breath.

Is that better?

This week,

Fresh from the press to your turntable!

So here we are y’all. In the middle of our first pandemic together. How about it? I hope everyone is treating each other with respect and doing their part. We hope to have you all back in for a beer very soon but in the meantime we will have to keep track of each other this way. Hope you’re okay with it?

The store will be open from noon until 5 pm everyday. If you have a record you’re looking for or want a new release, please send Todd an email and he will get back to you. You can purchase thru him and then pick it up at the curb or in the shop at your convenience. He pretty much knows what is in every rack so he will have you covered.

This week,

Fresh from the press to your turntable!

It’s been crazy trying to get back in the swing of things after the storm blasted the neighborhood last week. We are settling back in and seeing all your friendly faces this week has helped us get back to normal. Thanks for coming in and sharing your story, sharing a pint, and listening to some great tunes with us. It makes our vinyl heart all warm and fuzzy. Y’all are the best.

This week we have some great records hitting the shelves, and that is a small reassurance that life will go on as normal. Spoon, Cannonbal Adderley, The Cranberries, ABBA, Muddy Waters, Tears for Fears, and more find new homes on fresh wax this week. I’m sure the vinyl will be happy to hold these classics. I’m not so certain about those Spice Girls reissue but who am I to say? They sold a lot of CD’s but I digress.

One of my personal favorites, Dungen, release a new record this week. I always tune in to see what they are up to and this promises, as usual, not to disappoint. Check out the video clip down the list.

New stuff from our friend, and local, Phil Madeira this week along with new stuff from Boomtown Rats, Circles Around The Sun, Joywave, Grouplove, The Districts, and Deap Lips.

Burger Up & Asphalt Beach Employee Benefit

First off we would like to thank everyone who has shown up this week to express gratitude for 5 Points Area Service Employees. We have raised thousands to help some great people who have been out of work recently. The employees of 3 Crow and No Quarter say a loud and resounding…Thank you!

Secondly, we ask that everyone come out tonight and do it all again! We hope it’s not too much of a burden to ask you to partake in great beer specials that benefit a great cause. All proceeds from beer, generously donated from our fine sponsors, will go to benefit the employees of Burger Up! and Asphalt Beach.

Thank you to all our great sponsors throughout the week. A special teamwork 🌟 goes to Matt Stewart (AjaxTurner) and Cathie Cargill (BountyBev) this week. They spearheaded and coordinated these events from the distributor and brewery side of things. We could not do what we do with out them. They are the absolute best!

The 2020 Tornado

We hope this finds you all very well today. We are deeply saddened by the tragic events of the past week, but we are again reassured by the perseverance and fortitude of our community. Other natural disasters have tested our resolve in the recent past, and like those we will overcome and rebuild together. Nashville will always show up.

Music has always offered some peace of mind through tough times. Throw on a favorite record this weekend and forget about all the crazy for both sides. Do yourself a favor.

Thank you and see ya soon.

Thank you!

A deep and heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who got in touch the last few days. Your well wishes for Vinyl Tap, East Nashville, and the entire Nashville community is soothing music to our ears. Thank you!

Our neighborhood suffered a horrendous tragedy this week. A large storm produced a massive tornado which leveled large parts of our beloved city. We are devastated by the lose of life and are hopeful everyone affected by this find a way to heal in time.

We are putting things back together and many of you have enquired about lending a hand. There are many charitable organizations around the city such as Second Harvest Food Bank, Hands On Nashville, USBG Nashville, and The Martha O’Bryan Center. These organizations can use your support as they extend a hand to our greater Nashville area in it’s time of need.

We hope our suggestions help. The main focus is finding a way to support those in our community trying to put back the pieces.

Thank you all and stay safe.

Joey Plunkett (Country Westerns)

We are pumped for the aural journey Joey has prepared for you this month. Joey makes up 1/3 of the band Country Westerns and helps make up the heart of what our neighborhood is all about. He is a proprietor of Duke’s and Babo, and you may see him cruising around the hood at a nice steady pace.

One of our more recent chats involved how amazing it is for Country Westerns to release their first LP on Fat Possum very soon. Be on the look out for this record because I’ve taken it for a spin and it’s a great!

Very proud of ya Joe!

You’re a goodfella.
